Eastern Air Lines seeks a new southern trans continental route serving about 60 cities including San Francisco Los Angeles San Diego New Orleans Tempe San Juan and Alpine indicated on the proposed line in a telegram from Eddie Rickenbacker to May L Starns Rickenbacker said copies of the application would be mailed here in a few days with no further details available
The Alpine chamber of commerce will sponsor a three week salesmanship school early next year. It aims to train retail employees in customer approach and tourist courtesy. Lloyd P. Bloodworth, manager of the chamber, will teach the three classes one night per week with no public charge.
The Big Bend Post American Legion will hold a Sunday meeting at 2 p.m. in Legion Hall. Commander Sport Gunn urged all members to attend and invited eligible non-members to be present for membership consideration.
Alpine business Lange Boot shop had four Parade magazine photos spotlighting making cowboy boots as a western art. The feature includes John Ernst, veteran bootmaker, and a customer trying on boots. Parade credited to Library of Congress. Lange cited as famous boot shop shipping nationwide and abroad with extensive measurements on file. Note: wartime limits reduced boot production due to labor and material shortages.
The Texas Game Department announced that trapping and transplanting of antelopes will resume after a two year pause. Officials cited recent fall harvests, with 323 antelopes killed under the limited permit system and 438 hunters, 73.74 percent success, amid heavy West Texas rains.

Keith Morrow on terminal leave after four and a half years in the AAF, prior as instructor. Lt. M W Hopson discharged after 42 months with DFC, Air Medal with four clusters, four battle stars, and two Presidential citations.
Railroad officials and executives including Commissioner Jester and John M. Scroggins hunted on the Kokernot ranch near Fort Davis. Scroggins bagged a 17 point Slacktail as a reward for his efforts. Jester thanked the local chamber of commerce and invited visits. In Alpine the party was hosted at a dinner with CC members.
Brewster County faces a $60,000 shortfall in Victory Loan quota with only $100,000 raised against $160,000. Bond sales lag, notably $27,000 in E bonds, $33,000 under target. Major buyers include Southern Pacific $21,000 and Santa Fe $10,000. Campaign ends December 8 and residents urged to contribute. Discharged war veteran Turnell Boudreaux announced plans to open a curio shop in the Granada theatre building soon. He said the quarters are being prepared for occupancy now and emphasized the venture will offer unique collectibles to locals.

An afternoon session features a round table conference and closing at 1 p.m. Otis Kimball and wife left to attend the Texas A&M game and visit their son Keesey at A&M.
J. Sam Walker, proprietor of the Alpine cafe, was badly burned on his arms and face Monday morning when he struck a match near a gas-filled warming oven. He is reported to be making satisfactory recovery.
Weather report from the U S Weather Bureau shows daily high and low temperatures for the week from November 22 to 29 with no precipitation. Highest reading 75 degrees on November 26, lowest 36 degrees on November 22, and notable daily swings.
The consul for the past year will stay in Pine. Mr. Walker announced this week that his transfer to Del Rio has been cancelled. He praised the city’s citizens for cooperation and said they are happily situated and glad the transfer order was cancelled.
Richard R Sullivan arne ccruiter will be at the post office here next Tuesday afternoon to interview young men who wish to enlist in that branch of the service.
The Aupine nightscape reports the football team and coaches Robbins and Burnside were guests of Mr. and Mrs. C. West at the Texas cafe last Friday night. Sixteen players attended along with three invited guests, Reverend Fred S. Rogers, Reverend R. L. Wittner, and D. M. Bennett.
An army recruiting team will interview men who wish to enlist at the chamber of commerce office from December 10 to 15. D. M. of Eldorado and his daughter Miss Milta Hill of the Sul Ross faculty are mentioned in the readable fragment.
Lioya Bloodworth of the chamber of commerce toured Pecos Carlsbad Roswell and Santa Fe last week as officials push plans to funnel tourist business to the Alpine and Davis Mountains area. Travel officials anticipate a big travel boom next year and Bloodworth seeks to ensure the region shares in the rise. Meanwhile a Thanksgiving gathering at W C Hale home in Alpine honored returning veterans.
Alpine chamber of commerce plans a December 8 opening of the Christmas season with Santa arriving by plane at Starne Field at 5 p.m. He will visit local stores, read letters from children, and arrange late store hours. Snowing carols, bands, and downtown decorations mark the event as war era reinvigoration of holiday commerce.
A local drive has raised 181.50 to buy gym equipment for a Latin American youth recreation program. Herman Gonzales, a Navy trainer, will supervise activities at the Mexican Community hall from 7 to 10 nightly. The plan includes a South Side City basketball league at Sul Ross gym, with total equipment costs around 400. Contributions come from Toltec Cafe, Universal Furniture Co, Fausto's Grocery, Ritchey Bros Marathon, H L Kokernot Jr, and others.
The War Price and Rationing card office has been moved from the front suite in the Fuller building to offices on the north side of the building farther down the hall. Dr. W. B. Lockhart has moved into the offices formerly occupied by the rationing board facing Sixth Street.
