Presbyterians Observe 75th Anniversary at Alpine Church
The First Presbyterian Church of Alpine marks 75 years since its 1892 organization by Rev. W.B. Bloys with 10 charter members. A morning service, 1 a.m., features Dr. Hoytt Boles as speaker on Gods Love in the Unfinished Task, followed by dinner at 6 p.m. and a 7:30 commemorative service with history, memorial dedications, and special music led by Glenn F. Davis and Miss Elien Boyd.

Alpine approves 1 percent city sales tax
Alpine voters approved a 1 percent municipal sales tax by 279 to 75. Collections begin April 1 1968 with the first full quarter January February and April 1968. After July 1 1968 Alpine will receive its share from the 1.5 percent tax and funds will support paving and city services. Mayor Homer Hudgins praised the result.

Brewster County approves six Texas constitutional amendments
In Brewster County last Saturday all six proposed amendments passed with varying margins. Precinct 4 reported no votes. The results: special funds 106 in favor 84 against. mental health services 128 63. veterans land bonds 33 58 against. medical and pay aid for injured officers 133 6. parks bonds 123 69. allow state employees to serve on certain boards 111 78.

Blacktail Deer Season Opens in Trans-Pecos Region
The Blacktail deer season starts Saturday November 25 in the Trans-Pecos area. The Big Bend Sportsman Club sponsors daily contests with prizes and trophies, with tickets at local towns for $1 redeemable for Hunters Locators Service. A turkey shoot is planned November 19 near Alpine with multiple contests and about 30 turkeys to be awarded.
