Community Thanksgiving Services at First Presbyterian Church

Thanksgiving services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church on Thanksgiving morning at 9 a.m. Rev. Clanton Newbill will lead the worship and Rev. Jim Pingleton of the First Christian Church will deliver the sermon on The Meaning of Thanksgiving. Members of 211 faiths are invited to attend.

Alpine Represented in Sun Carnival 1967 Princess Selection

Margaret Jo Rais, reigning Miss Big Bend Country and Alpine Lion Club Sweetheart, will represent Alpine in El Paso for the 1967 Sun Carnival. She is co sponsored by the Alpine Chamber of Commerce and Alpine Jaycees and will attend coronation, parade, Sun Bowl and other events starting December 26.

Alpine and Sul Ross Students Dismissed for Thanksgiving

Alpine Public Schools and Sul Ross State College will dismiss Wednesday afternoon November 22 for Thanksgiving. Classes resume Monday morning November 27. Most Alpine businesses close Thursday November 23 in observance of the holiday.

KVLF to Air SW Grid Games This Week

KVLF will broadcast two Southwest Conference football games this week. Texas AGM classic on Thanksgiving Day at 1 15 p m and Texas Tech versus Arkansas on Saturday at 12 15 p m. Connie Alexander will handle play by play for both games.

Jaycees to Meet at Community Room

The Alpine Jaycees will meet at 7 30 p.m. Tuesday in the community room at the First National Bank. All Jaycees are urged to attend. Only 26 more shopping days until Christmas.

Voting Begins for Four CC Directors Terms

Chamber members will vote to elect four directors to three year terms starting January 1 1968. A nominating committee named eight candidates including Phil Wayne Ibersberger Arlo Gill Knox Jordan Shelby Kerbow Frank McCollum Jack Minnox Robert Sosa and Jack Williams. Ballots go out this week and must be returned by December 16. Retiring members are Marvin Pierce Bob Corkins Keesey Kimball Stacy Watson and Jack Minnox. New directors will be installed at the January chamber banquet.

Drive-Inn The Hut Under Construction At E Hwy 90 Corner

Construction began Tuesday on a new drive inn named The Hut at the E. Hwy. 90 and Hwy. 118 corner. James D. Bow will manage with Moore and Gray of Alpine listed as contados. The 20 by 40 foot concrete block building features dual serving sides, a 15 foot overhang, a 15 by 4 foot canopy, seating for 36, surrounding parking, and a full drive in menu with basket foods and to go service. Opening date planned for December 20.

Waco Couple Buys Claridge Apartments

Mr and Mrs Frank B Paup long time residents of Waco and Dallas have purchased the Claridge Apartments and will reside in Alpine The former owners were Forrest Walker of Alpine and Herschel Exell of Tyler Robert Starr remains the manager and will continue in that role said Mr Paup
