Alpine area notes and visits mark community month

A narrative from Alpine area residents recounts travel and social highlights. Erith Wallis and family in Corsicana note a 36/10 inch rain aiding oat fields and winter grazing amid dry spells. The piece mentions gatherings with Susan Easterwood, Newty Matthews, Paul and Teeby Forchheimer at Indian Lodge, Fort Davis, and Dr. Alan Maxwell visiting from McDonald Observatory. It covers local club activity, a Santa Fe writer Fré Fraser King, and Penny Ebersberger’s question about preaching at a Sul Ross Lobo-Texas AGS homecoming. The Red Cross received 165 for Hurricane Beulah relief and Judge Mae M. Ament’s prominence in New Orleans coverage. The note closes with plans for a Dallas trip to watch SMU-Texas football.
