Fort Davis anniversary marks Persifor Smith legacy and camp history
Three years late, a National Historic Site notes the 113 year old order creating Painted Camp on the Limpia and the Fort Davis post. It honors Brevet General Persifor Smith, his defense network in West Texas, and his influence on frontier marching, forts, and artillery. A museum donation adds sheet music to the story as the celebration nears.
