Fire Plugs Installed Near Central School
The four block Central School area now has standard fire protection after two new fire plugs were installed this week by the City Crew. Tested and in service, each plug sits on a separate 9 inch main with cast iron piping and underground valves. Manufactured by Ludlow of Troy New York and adopted from El Paso models, the plugs can each discharge over 750 gallons per minute, making the school ground the most heavily protected area in the city, per Mayor Lockhart and City Consulting Engineer Ashley G.
