Procedure To Be Followed In City Election April 5

Alpine residents qualified for the City election on Tuesday will receive two ballots. The first lists mayor and three commissioners with the top two commissioners to serve two years and Mayor W. S. Lockhart for two years. The second ballot covers aldermen with three to be elected under the present plan. If aldermanic form is approved, the three aldermen with most votes will serve one year each, joining the mayor and two commissioners. Aldermen would then have staggered terms and a future election after one year for three more aldermen. If approved, three aldermen will be elected for two-year terms two years from now. Officials emphasize the aldermanic plan is not home rule and the city will continue under general laws.
