A church notice invites attendance at sermons and services. Pastor R. F. Davib announces an 11 a.m. sermon, an Epworth League gathering at 7:30 p.m., and an 8:30 p.m. evening sermon. The invitation asks parishioners to attend these services.
Society pages detail the June 2 wedding of Kathrine Turney to Maren Turney with ceremony at a Pre un church. The bride, daughter of A M Turney, wore a pink frock and carried pink roses. reception featured delphinium centerpieces and a three tier cake. Teas and luncheons followed with Miss Turney and family receiving. A later tea shower honored the bride with pink roses and blue decor.
Last Sunday Sunday school reached 200 with a fine teaching hour solo by Donald Sters and a later solo by Miss McWhorter. Dr John Miller of Los Angeles spoke, the newly organized orchestra performed well, and the pastor Buren Sparks invited attendance at 9 48 a.m. 11 a.m. and 8 30 p.m.
Baptist W M S hosted a bridal shower for Mrs Henry Lease, wife of the Marfa bride, noting pink roses and a program of trios by Frances Sparks Hal Marie Patton and Mary Virginia Me Intyre. The week also featured a mixed shower for Mrs Lease with gifts and a Chaffin home gathering. Christian Science services announce June 30 lesson sermon with scripture and a laymen banquet at the Baptist church next Tuesday night to discuss tithing.
Miss Lizbeth and Mr and Mrs a d Swann were honored with an 8th birthday party at the Milam home on a Wednesday evening. The event featured talks by site residents, radio music, and a birthday cake and ice cream served to Elizabeth Atius, Edward Swann, and numerous guests including Thelma Jean Adams, Earl Martin, Audrey Lee, and Marcus Connally.
