New Oil Test Planned in Jeff Davis County

Coat worn in Civil War donated to Sul Ross museum
Fort Davis June 1918 A Southern youth Henry Hartson Powe left Tuscaloosa College to join the Confederate cause. Wounded in a minor postwar clash, his sleeve was slit and his arm amputated. The olive drab coat, now ragged, was kept by his daughter Mrs Mead Wilson and given to Sul Ross College West Texas Historical and Scientific Society for display. The coat, tied with blue jeans and bearing one US brass button, reflects Southern soldiers loyalty and courage.
