Swimming Safety Rules Warn Public In Wartime
The Texas Health Department issued safety guidance for water sports from Austin. Dr George W Cox urged caution due to wartime restrictions, listing rules such as waiting an hour after meals, leaving the water when fatigued or chilled, avoiding overheated conditions, learning to float, not rocking boats, and avoiding polluted waters near sewage outlets to prevent disease. Excursions and picnics near lakes and rivers remain beneficial when sensible precautions are followed.
