Expensive Postage In Waterbury Postage Mixup
Waterbury readers note a postage error when a letter to Mr and Mrs Edward Mattoon arrived with a defense stamp matted and an accompanying note. The note from S Petersburg postmaster asks the sender to inform that defense stamps are not valid for postage. The sender is identified as Mrs William Sheehan assistant postmaster of Terryville Conn.

Texas Parks Board seeks condemnation for Big Bend lands in Brewster County
The Texas Parks Board filed a condemnation suit in Brewster County seeking to acquire land and rights to parcel described as part of the Big Bend National Park. The petition names numerous defendants including Nichols and wife, Estes, Tompkins, Berkner and others, alleging uncertain title and need for full transfer of rights by order of condemnation.
