Truck Hit by Storm Destroys Fort Davis Route
A Texas truck driven home from Sanderson with his 11 year old son Daron faced a tornado like storm. Wind tore oak posts and hail shattered glass as the cab shielded by a tarpaulin kept them safe. The truck endured heavy damage yet limped to Fort Davis under its own power. A passing car was lifted and uninjured occupants, while a Fort Davis resident, F.E. Carlton, visited Sawtooth Mountain and the Rockpiles with visitors Mrs. J.T. Key of Port Lavaca and Miss Lillian Key of San Antonio. They hoped to map the Davis Mountains State Parks highway route before leaving. The Keys were in town last summer and Miss Key works for Humble Oil. Carlton noted the scenic road and the Rockpiles’ beauty but said Kit Carson’s name on a boulder could not be found.
