On 13 July 1959 Western Union Soap Company applied to the FCC to close the Alpine Texas telegraph office at 105 North Fifth Street and route service to Big Bend Camera and Curios at 207 East Holland Avenue. If granted, service would run 8 AM to 9:10 PM Monday through Saturday and 10:30 AM to 7 PM Sunday. Public protest or support could be mailed to FCC Washington DC by August 11, 1959. The notice blends with a civic essay stressing kindness, leadership, health, and character development for children.
