Bellamah Conducts Band Clinics This Summer
Joe Bellamah of San Antonio director of the Sul Ross Lone College band conducts a series of band clinics this summer. He completed a one week clinic at Trinity University San Antonio and will lead bands at Texas Lutheran College Seguin July 31 to Aug 6 and at the University of Nevada Lake Tahoe Aug 7 through Aug 20. His book Facts will be published for use by schools and colleges. Mr and Mrs Ray Morrison and Wosons have returned to Temple after visiting Mrs Morrison's mother.

Beef ranchers in Brewster Jeff Davis and Presidio counties received federal wool incentive payments totaling over four thousand dollars per county. Brewster reported 126 256 85 for wool and 11 548 16 for lambs with 7601 14 to the Lamb and Lamb products council. Jeff Davis totals were 171 728 98 for wool and 15 228 14 for lambs with 4626 88 to the promotion fund. Presidio reported 260 997 75 for wool and 17 785 35 for lambs with 7182 68 to the fund. Ray Welch Dies in California Funeral Held in Riverside
Ray W. Welch brother in law of Mr. Ay Spence died in California last week. Mrs. Welch was Ellen Morriss, who sang here in 1914. The Welchs have long visited Alpine each fall. Bids To Be Called In September For River Road Project
The State Highway Commission plans to award bids in September for a 28.6 mile paving project from Lajitas in Brewster County to Bedford in Presidio County. Missionaries Evacuated From Congo Reach Rhodesia
The LeMasters family and two missionaries evacuated from strife torn Congo arrived safely in Southern Rhodesia after a tense move from Umtali station. Mrs LeMasters, daughter of Alpine's Mrs V J Smith, writes of a precarious evacuation by U S Navy plane with limited seating and makeshift arrangements. They expect a two week stay before new plans, recounting radio updates and air sick passengers during the flight toward the border.

Alpine Woman Dies Of Stab Wound In Bar Murder Charge
Miss Margarita Martinez, 24, of Alpine, fatally stabbed at a Fort Stockton bar about 7:30 p.m. Sunday while working as a waitress. Matias Velazquez, 28, of Fort Stockton, a state prison parolee, charged with murder. Witnesses say Velazquez attacked Martinez from behind and slit her throat, also stabbing Hilario Munoz and Rosendo Gomez who aided her. Funeral services held Tuesday at Our Lady of Peace Church with burial in the Latin American Cemetery.
