The Fabulous Magicians will perform at HPF Gymnasium in Alpine on Tuesday Feb 3 at 7 30 p m meeting Sul Ross Intramural All Stars. Founded in 1953 by Marques Haynes they boast world wide fame for trick shots and humorous routines. They claim over 4000 wins with few losses.
Sul Ross State University Planning Committee will ask the Board of Regents to accept preliminary renovation plans for the Administration Building by Jessen Jessen Millhouse Greeven and Crume and to formally accept the Jackson Field facilities with a new lighting system and track oval. The meeting on Campus January 21 included out of town and Alpine participants. A separate public hearing notice from Alpine outlines a zoning hearing for February 17 to consider rezoning south of the Southern Pacific Railroad to R-4 Mobile Homes.
Southwestern Bell manager Robert Hurt reports Alpine telephones rose to 2680 in 1969 from 1461 in 1960. November business calls averaged 8685 daily, up 32 percent from January’s 6546. A 200 new numbers addition is planned for 1970 with a hint of a central office expansion as growth continues.
Miss Judith Parsons an assistant professor of history at Sul Ross State University is taking a leave of absence during the spring semester to pursue doctoral work at the University of Texas at Austin.
