The 1953 annual statement for Great Southern Life Insurance Co of Houston shows record gains across all departments. Admitted assets reach 145.2 million with policy reserves of 126.7 million and in force insurance of 638.96 million. Last year’s new life insurance placed totaled 86.56 million, up 19 percent from 1952, while living benefits paid rose to 7.68 million, up 12 percent. Less than 7 percent lapse rate aided a net gain in insurance in force of 46.87 million, five percent ahead of the prior year.
