City adopts district meter reading and new February rate
Mr Cowell outlines a city plan to divide readings into districts using full time staff in the last four days of each month. February 1960 will charge only 2 cents per 1000 gallons over January, with a one third deduction of the current meter reading to approximate January use. The city has cut water costs from 20 cents to under 10 cents per 1000 gallons, boosting funds from $65,000 to over $100,000 and helping balance the budget without large tax increases.
