Park Completes Part Of Soil Work At Big Bend National Park
Big Bend National Park finishes a portion of its soil and water conservation program for 1963, treating about 600 acres of deep soil along Tornillo Creek west of Highway 385. A footplow seedbed method followed by till and pack drilling, using two seed boxes, was used to place seed at proper depth in bare ground. The project mirrors successful range seeding practices seen in the Trans-Pecos Soil Conservation District near Ft. Stockton.
