Alpine school officials received a letter from Mrs. Elton Smith of the Culberson-Hudspeth Bi-County PTA inviting Duane Smith and Pat O'Donnell to discuss youth in parent teachers organizations. Donna Neely, Alpine High's class of 1953, joined the speakers.
At the Alpine district conference on March 25 and 26, Alpine high students were invited to speak to an adult organization. The event showcased top honor students active in student affairs and discussed the University Interscholastic League quiz format with sample questions and time limits.
The Alpine district highlights taxation tests and pension problems for officials, mentions a public schools recorder loan for a Marathon play, and notes Dennis Williams earning top honors in District 7A declamation while Alpine audits assure safe funds and future planning.
Alpine officials credit the district for sharing gym and football field facilities with neighboring schools including San derson Marathon Blackwell Valentine Presidio and Fort Davis for the 8B and 7A literary events. Alpine coach Curtis Kelley and Sul Ross student teachers prepared the track while commissioners rolled and watered the surface. Trustees praise the public school good neighbor policy and flowers around the high school add to a wholesome atmosphere. The week ends with a meditation on field yield and growth.
A bake sale is scheduled for April 24 at 9 30 a m at the Adams System store to raise funds for Rainbow Girls traveling to the Grand Assembly in San Antonio this June.
