Charles Coker Kills Self at Alliance Home
Charles S Coker sixty years old a Morrill county ranch owner and Alliance resident killed himself in the basement of his Alliance home by hanging his body found by W J Lee the local plumber while awaiting trial on cattle theft and arson charges. He had been despondent for weeks after being held for trial in Bridgeport district court. He had been released on bond after preliminary hearings and faced a December 1 term. the body showed signs of several days’ absence. No inquest was held. He had recently converted his property to cash and his friends Robert B E and Howard R Reddish acquired his assets.

Ellsworth Rancher Thrown From Horse in Major Injury
C. H. Fields, a well known rancher four miles southwest of Ellsworth, was thrown from his horse early Monday and sustained brain injury from a clot above the right eye. He is semi conscious and medical opinion hopes a change within twenty four hours will reveal more about his condition, with expectation of recovery. Mrs. Johnson of York arrived Friday to visit daughter Mrs Frank Smith.

Mother Rosalie of Alliance Hospital Dies After Illness
Mother Rosalie, longtime administrator at Alliance Hospital known across western Nebraska, died Saturday afternoon after brief illness. Funeral services were held at Holy Rosary Church with Bishop Duffy and twelve priests in attendance. Born in Westphalia Germany on March 1 1858 she came to the United States in 1880 and joined the religious life shortly after arriving.

Big Chief oil well struck near Rushville Nebraska line
An oil well named the Big Chief, located 26 miles northwest of Rushville and straddling the South Dakota line, produced at 4 15 a m on November 12 after drilling began August 2 1920. The well, at 1196 feet, is cased 1061 feet with the last 135 feet water-filled, cementing seventeen sacks. A syndicate of local citizens financed the venture with $60 000 in stock. M Wettland of Rushville is the latest shareholder, and Co L May editor of the Rushville Standard chairs the board. Plans call for a second well as more leases surface nearby.
