Wage increases for nearly two million railroad workers
General pay raises move forward retroactive to January 1 and effective next Saturday, potentially totaling over 300 million dollars annually. The plan raises pay across most job classes, with at least 2.5 cents more per hour for track workers, a minimum of 55 cents per hour for shop trades, and equal pay for women and Black workers for the same work. A three labor and three management committee will study remaining wage inequalities, with no wage reductions.
