The second annual registered tournament of the Alliance Gun Club will be held in this city on Sunday, June 9. Prizes include 125 dollars in cash and 25 dollars in trophies. Starch Factory Gets Much Encouragement
Prof. R F Howard of Li secretary of the federal potato committee and a booster to potato starch industry spent Saturday in Box county explaining the factory plan. He said four years ago the University of Agriculture started investigating starch from potatoes and expects several factories for next crop. He noted starch vs flour differ. moisture is about 73 percent. Machinery from Denver can run a plant handling 80 9 per day costing 8000 to 10000. total setup around 25 000 for a county factory. Ten pounds of starch from 100 pounds of potatoes. cost about 1 to 1 1/4 cents per pound.
