Four colored women assault at depot ejected
Four colored women attacked Police Matron Sharp at the depot after she ordered them to stay away from the depot. Josie J. Kirby struck Sharp in the eye and bit her hand. Read and Stafford arrested the group. Josie was fined 25 dollars plus costs after a conflict with Judge Tash.

The draft law requires all men who turned 21 since June 5, 1917 or by June 5, 1918 to register. New registrants go to the bottom of their class but can be called after those in earlier classes are exhausted. Alliance men register at the sheriff’s office between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. The measure could add about 760000 eligibles nationwide.

Derailment Delays Trains On Main Line Near Heelan
Widespread excitement followed news of a wreck on the main line delaying Nos 41 and 42 by about six hours. The incident involved a switch mishap causing part of a car to derail and block the main line, with a wrecker from Alliance brought in before Nos 41 and the freight finally cleared to Ravenna. Heelan sits about 20 miles from Ravenna on the line.
