Alliance Nebraska February 3 1912 A Progressive Democrat endorses a primary for selecting the postmaster to succeed Mr Tash. Voters who patronize the office and reside in Box Butte County would decide. Candidates must pledge to run the office personally and be good Democrats. Proposes one voting place and funded ballots judges and clerks.
A. D. Rodgers presides over Box Butte County Wilson and Marshall Club urging that candidates be listed at least ten days before the primary. The message specifies timing requirements for candidate placements and party procedures within the county club framework.
The Elks lodge announces a regular election of officers to be held Friday night with a request for full attendance from members.
Members of the Alliance Volunteer Fire Department are invited to a large banquet in Scottsbluff next Monday evening. A big delegation is expected to travel Monday noon and return Tuesday noon.
Homesteaders in the south half of Box Butte and Sheridan, and the north parts of Morrill and Garden counties are asked to contact The Herald office or write to us before filing final proof. An experienced man will prepare papers free of charge and guarantee accuracy. Readers with neighbors planning proof this summer should call attention to this request to avoid missing notice.
The Herald reports more than a half ton of print and book paper required to produce this issue. The large quantity underscores production scale and material costs for the newspaper edition.

J N Maul, a banker long based in St Paul Nebraska, proposed naming the Alliance town after Alliance Ohio while working as a Burlington civil engineer on the line through here. The notification credits his suggestion as the origin of the town name.

Nebraska homesteaders expect final proof soon and seek $1000 to $1500 loans for cattle purchases, aiming to turn the west half dairy. Denver capitalists form a $3,000,000 loan company offering mortgages at six percent, to back Nebraska farmers.
Mrs 8 rowers of Litchfield leaves for home tonight on the night train after a three week stay. She travels with her daughterin law Mere E 8 rowers who will remain away two or three weeks.
T. H. Barnes employed on the Colorado and Southern railroad bound for Orin Junction Wyoming from Thermopolis has been home briefly but will return to his job tonight.
A meeting at Mrs. George Fernald’s Alliance home organized the Box Butte County Woman's Suffrage Club. Officers elected: Mrs. Fernald president, Mrs. A R Acheson secretary, Mrs. W F Patterson treasurer. A four member canvassing committee named. Donations pledged total $10.80.
In late congress, Senator Hubert M. Hitchcock helped win a $75,000 appropriation for a federal building in Alliance. The sum is small compared with larger cities, but locals praise Hitchcock for beginning support others did not secure.
