Moves In New Runner Block Prompt Shakeup Of Local Stores

The completion of the Runner Block triggers major relocations in town commerce. F J Brennan moves to the corner room to launch a premier west drug store, L W Bolte runs a front jewelry store, and Geo A Mollring will occupy the north room with a large dry goods venture. The Bennett Piano store shifts to the middle room, and Bee Hive plans a March 1 relocation to a Box Butte avenue site. W B Parker orders Chicago stock to coincide with the move, with more changes promised next week.

Sheriff Cox Leaves for Fairbury After Father’s Death

The sheriff travels from Omaha to Grand Island and Fairbury after receiving news that his father died last evening at his home there. The father had a robust constitution but was advanced in years and ill for some time. Sympathy is extended to the bereaved.

Standing of Candidates in The Herald Piano Contest

The Herald reports standings through February 16. Miss Attie Snow of Alliance leads with six points and five thousand seven hundred sixty five. Jessie Geiger of Womingford shows two points two two with five thousand six hundred. Anna Dainton of Alliance has two six and six six six with three hundred eighty eight. Alma Rosenberger of Hemingford shows five thousand one hundred.

Date Set For Piano Contest Closing After Vote Totals

Officials will fix a closing date once votes cast total a cash value equal to premiums. The date will be announced not later than the end of the month following.

Chicken Pie Supper and Sale by M. E. Church and Ladies Aid

The M. E. church and Ladies Aid announce a chicken pie supper and sale on Tuesday Feb 2 at the McWhinney building. Sale starts 1 p.m. with dinner at 5:30 p.m. Menu includes chicken pie with cranberry sauce mashed potatoes baked beans cabbage salad pickles bread and butter cherry sherbet hatchet cookies and coffee. Price 75 cents.

Havelock approves Initiative and Referendum vote

Almost all voters favor the Initiative and Referendum in a special Havelock election with a 327 to 77 tally. Mrs. M O'Brien and J W Hamilton returned from Chicago with stock for a Bennett store suite on north Box Butte avenue and promise more details soon.
