Y M C A Campaign Opens for Alliance Building

Dr Alice M Day Young has launched a drive to raise 40000 dollars for a four story Alliance Y M C A building. The effort secures a 10000 pledge from the Woman's Club and garners support from local business leaders ranchers and churches as Alliance moves toward civic growth.

Alliance Couple wed in family ceremony at Tash home

Miss Emma Tash and Mr. Axel Johnson married at the Tash residence in Alliance last Tuesday evening in a six o clock ceremony led by Rev. O. Baker. The event, attended by immediate family, featured a pink and white decor and an eight o'clock reception for more than 150 guests before the couple departed for a honeymoon in the eastern part of the state. The couple will reside at 1028 Laramie Avenue after February 1. Miss Hiaunce Kibble joined the Nebraska Telephone Co. office as stenographer to bolster the growing operations under T. H. Beeson.

Alliance Fire Displaces 400 Children, School to Reopen

A massive blaze in Alliance forces 400 pupils from school for years until new quarters are found. The fire, insured for 17 750, caused extensive damage to building and contents. Firemen saved many nearby homes and properties.

Largest Alliance School Building Destroyed By Fire

A fire early Tuesday destroyed the Central School in Alliance, the city’s largest and oldest school, with over 400 pupils. Firefighters battled fierce flames fanned by wind as the bell tower and west wall were dynamited for safety. The cause was believed to be spontaneous combustion in coal bins near the furnace. Only a mattress and a toy doll house were saved. the janitor and his son-in-law escaped in night clothes.

International Concert Company at Methodist Church

A trio of reader vocalist and violinist from the International Concert Company appears at the Methodist church Saturday evening December 21 at 8 15 under Epworth League auspices. Admission 50 cents for adults 25 cents for students. A holiday season treat.

Judge invalidates bond election over publication error

Judge Westover of the district court issued a permanent injunction forbidding bond issuance after finding the Alliance Times failed to publish the required special bond election notice. The Times, last year’s official paper for Box Butte county, did not contest the omission, while the Herald published the notice four times, though the first publication fell short.

Legal notice publication flaw threatens Hemingford election

The Times incorrectly stated a weekly legal notice was valid as notices must be published in every issue of the week. A large Hemingford crowd attended the court where the injunction was made permanent and Alliance lawyers admitted the omission could invalidate the election with courthouse supporters resigned.
