City Manager N A Kemmish and the council met Saturday to retain Sam Shelton as city scavenger and implement a new price scale. Aimed at expanding contracted service, the plan targets about 75 cents per month per residence for regular ash and garbage removal with staged rollouts and potential biweekly service.
Mrs A Gregory had her tonsils removed this morning by Dr Hand at St Joseph hospital.
The American Red Cross home service bureau at the courthouse will close this Saturday. Ex servicemen and others seeking help with compensation claims are urged to see the secretary before week’s end. Miss Josephine Ganson, executive secretary, resigns and the office will not reopen.
Mrs Queele of 712 West Second Street has been ill with measles. The notice states the illness and location.

Robbers targeted the Golden Rule in a city during Sunday night or Monday morning. They entered via the coal bin and a steel door blocked further progress, then fled through the coal chute after an apparent scare. Police note likely small person or children involved. no clues found.
Police raided the Wilson livery barn after midnight finding multiple containers of illicit liquor buried in a box stall. Four men were arrested or questioned, with three released and Virgil Shrautmeier kept on illegal intoxicating liquor charges. trial set for today.
The Methodists of Alliance advocate continuing the Seventh and Box Butte church project as a worthy civic effort. They argue churches anchor civilization, spur public welfare, and deserve broad town support alongside schools libraries and public buildings.
Twenty five or thirty fans and players join the Alliance baseball association at a chamber of commerce meeting. F D McCormick named team manager with H D Shallenberger as president and Jed Hayes as treasurer. A benefit wrestling match set for May 2 to aid the club.

In Houston they note strict traffic rules and one way streets, while Duncan Oklahoma grows fast with over 400 rigs and rapid Sandalio development. A four room house reportedly sells for $5,000 cash as oil activity surges.
Mr and Mrs Charles LaMon of Casper Wyoming arrived yesterday for a visit with Mrs LaMons Pave. Mr and Mrs T H Barnes of this city also are mentioned in the report.

About twenty five Box Butte farmers met in the Alliance county court room to organize the Box Butte county agricultural society. Dave Purinton was named temporary chairman and Lester Beal secretary as they plan a constitution and by laws with county help and outside assistance. The next meeting set for May 7 to finalize the organization.
M. Carey of the Alliance will speak to the eastern Colorado chamber of commerce Tuesday night on The Functions of a Chain of Commerce. He will stop in Denver on return to handle local business for the chamber. Miss Carrie Briggs from Kansas City visits Mrs. N. J. Fletcher, arriving Saturday for several weeks.
The interclass track and field meet on the grounds north of the high school ended with the Sophomores narrowly beating the Seniors by three points. Frank Daily and Ralph Garvin led multiple events as records were set and standings shifted, with the Sophomores earning 45 points to the Seniors 42.
A county court issued a warrant for Earl C. Pierson alias E C Carr charged with cashing a $25 check drawn on First State Bank of Clinton Nebraska that was returned N/A. His location is unknown though reports placed him recently in Springview.
