Chatsworth Residents Attend Weddings and Visits

Shelly Sickler to Wed Mark Larson in October

Gail Carlson Graduates With Honors At UNI Commencement

Gail Carlson of Akron earns a bachelor of arts in elementary education reading and teaching as part of UNI 98th spring commencement. She is among 1,158 candidates. 1,040 bachelor of arts degrees, 81 master of arts, 21 art in education, 3 bachelor of music, 12 bachelor of technology, and 1 specialist in education graduates. Plymouth county ACS meeting notes election and goals

Plymouth county chapter of the American Cancer Society met at Westmar commons with 15 in attendance. Mrs. Don Peters presided as Rev. Arnold Imbrock gave the benediction. Education chairwoman Mrs. Joe Easton reported 13 programs for clubs and 25 for youth this quarter, with 11 action programs initiated. A Remsen program featuring a Breast Cancer film drew 78 women, RSVP guests included Dr. Everett Getty. Easton noted broad school participation in the Send a Mouse to College project during the April crusade. Memorials totaled 142 dollars this quarter. loan closet items and transportation aid were highlighted. Karen Peterson announced Easton’s appointment to the state Public Information committee of the Iowa ACS, with Jan Voss as committee chair. Dr. H. C. Thompson was nominated for the Harold W. Morgan Volunteer award. To date Plymouth county crusade receipts total 7,574.28 toward a 10,680 goal. a full town-by-town report will follow. Officers were re-elected: Peters, Rowe, and Becker. Directors named include Albert, Thompson, Schumacher, Sheehan, Harlan Rowe, Bogh, and Becker. Attendees listed, next meeting set for September.

Golden wedding open house for Johnsons in Akron

Mr and Mrs Joseph P Johnson of Akron celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with an open house at Adaville United Methodist church from 2 to 4 pm on Saturday June 7. The couple married June 4 1925 at Morningside Presbyterian parsonage and now reside in Akron with eleven grandchildren and three daughters heading the hosting families.

Akron graduates honored at Westmar spring commencement

Westmar college awarded 146 bachelor degrees during the spring ceremony at the Westmar physical education center on May 17. Akron residents Richard Dowling, Kent G. Kilstrom, Arlin J. Milbrodt, and Debra Burdette Port earned BA and related degrees, among 704 students from 29 states and foreign countries. The college. offers BA, BME, and BAS, with programs in special learning disabilities urban and clinical semesters, and overseas study.

Informational meeting for nurses at Western Iowa Tech

An informational meeting for Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses is planned for June 5 at 7:30 p.m. in the East Junior High auditorium, Sioux City. Sylvia R.
