Kathy Puffer of Hitchcock S D and Mahlon Dirks of Elk Point S D were united in marriage May 10 at the United Methodist church in Hitchcock. The Rev Roger Thomas officiated at 2 p m before flowers and candles. Parents are Mr and Mrs Melvin Puffer and Mr and Mrs Robert Dirks. Soloist Van Leffler sang Follow Me with Marsha Hurlbert on piano. The bride wore a floor length polyester gown with lace and pearls, carried white daisies and zonga roses. Attendants wore coral and beige flecked crepe gowns. Groom’s attendants included Dick Trapp and Van Leffler. ushers were Dale Dirks and Gary Marshall. The bride's mother wore a beige knit suit, the groom's mother a blue knit gown. The bride is a 1975 SDSU graduate. the groom is Akron High School and SDSU student. They will reside at 1348 7th St Brookings after a wedding trip to the Black Hills.

Our Kitchen Band planned district meeting numbers, lessons were given, and lunch was served. A second meeting on May 12 at Delores Johnson’s with seven members included creed recitation, Father’s day favors planned, lessons on Emergency First Aid, and plant exchanges. The Scattered 4-H club met May 12 at Bruce Ericson’s home with seven members and one visitor. topics included fair plans, cemetery cleanup, fundraising ideas, a June 1 meeting at Akron park with picnic, livestock tour, insect roll call, and talks on macrame, string art, and swine.

Former Akron businessman recovers after heart attack
