Vatican Upholds Ban on Deep-Seated Gay Priests
The Vatican released a long awaited instruction stating that men with deep seated homosexual tendencies should not be ordained while those with transitory tendencies may be if overcome for three years before ordination. The document reinforces church teaching that such tendencies are objectively disordered and raises debate among conservatives and liberals. Pope Benedict XVI approved the instruction on Aug 31.
