Aiken County Peach Growers Enjoy Banner 1986 Harvest
In contrast to statewide losses, Joe Watson of Monetta Batesburg valley reports a 1986 peach season with 75 percent yield and about 200000 bushels packed. Peaches moved locally at Jerrold Watson Packing Shed and through Seald Sweet in Tampa, with national shipments to retailers. California remains a major rival due to calendar weather advantages.
