The Aiken City Council will vote on placing three wooden bridges on Fairfield Union and York streets on the historic register and consider a related amendment to include them in the Historic District. A Design Review Board with authority to modify the bridges would require council approval and a municipal agreement with the Department of Transportation.

A North Augusta man 29 year old Clifford Reginald Watson was detained after deputies found him sleeping in his vehicle at a stop sign with his foot on the brake at Beaver Dam Road and Wire Road. He faced charges under Alcohol Beverage Control law and simple possession of marijuana. He was released by Friday evening.
