Local voters raised concerns about polling machines and access during Burnettown elections. The Elections Commission unanimously upheld the election after a two hour hearing led by Henry Carlin who filed the protest with four mayoral candidates including incumbent C H Williams.
A local city will hold a vote Monday on plans to repair or replace wooden bridges. Officials say the measure funds maintenance and safety upgrades for several district crossings. Residents are advised to review the measure details before casting ballots.
The scoreboard lists matchups including South Aiken versus Aiken North Augusta with 33 to 24 indicating a close score, Williston-Elko at 58 and C.A. Johnson as another listed team, Dutch Fork and Darlington also appearing in the standings.
In a three part series aiken county community leaders outline anti bullying efforts for youth and bullies. The aiken boys and girls club displays a stop bullying banner and participates in a national Cartoon Network program aimed at preventing bullying. Shawn Risher executive director notes the program is new but the club has long promoted character and leadership.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol launches Operation Fourth Quarter with added patrols and education through November and December to reduce collisions injuries and deaths. The program, themed football, aims to finish strong as traffic fatalities trend down nationwide and in South Carolina. Lance Cpl Judd Jones notes progress and ongoing goals.
