Soviet naval group sails south through Tsushima Strait

A Soviet cruiser and a missile destroyer were sighted steaming south through the Tsushima Strait between Japan and the Korean peninsula. The Defense Agency said the ships, a 15,450-ton Sverdnov class cruiser and a Kotlin class destroyer, were moving about 10 knots, the first Soviet vessels seen in the strait since last December. The agency declined to speculate on their destination amid U.S. efforts to cut Soviet arms to Vietnam.
