Pet fair location moved in Aiken to ease pet registrations
Aiken Public Safety announces a location change for the May 20 pet fair from Smith Hazel to the old Winn-Dixie parking lot. Officials say the move supports a new citywide pet registration ordinance and aims to speed up microchiping and registration ahead of strict enforcement starting mid summer. A June 17 fair is set for PetsMart in the Target Shopping Center with daytime hours 10 am to noon and an evening event at Citizens Park.

J B Moseley credits a 1998 bone marrow transplant from his son Jacob with keeping him in remission from leukemia. He urges Aiken County residents to join the Thanks, Mom marrow donor drive at H Odell Weeks Recreation Center from 10 am to 4 pm, noting a finger prick can register donors to help leukemia patients and others with life threatening illnesses. The piece also honors Mothers Memorial Bone Marrow Drive founders and emphasizes minority donor participation to increase match chances.
