Coroner Sue Townsend reports toxicology results for Jose Santos Cordova 37 after a February 16 crash on Atomic Road near Aiken South Carolina. Cordova driving a 1968 Lumina crossed the double line and collided with a 1995 Toyota 4 Runner carrying Susan Arnot 33, George Arnot III 37 and two dogs. The Arnots were extracted and transported to the Medical College of Georgia with injuries while Cordova died at the scene.
Salsa's Mex-Mex Grill begins service at 109 Tamil Drive in the Aiken Exchange near Target, Michaels and Pier 1 Imports. Manager Ruben Duran says a grand opening will follow liquor license approval as the restaurant offers fas tas enchiladas lunch specials daily from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and regular hours 11 a.m. to 10 or 11 p.m. through the week.
Local groups announce Relay for Life team meetings on Thursday April 24 at 6 p.m. on the sixth floor of Aiken Regional Medical Centers and a March meeting of the Aiken Board of Realtors in Newberry Hall at noon with guest Renee Montengobl of Allstate Insurance to discuss long term care needs.
City of Aiken residents Gary Moore and Tom Masterson head to Orvieto Italy to represent Aiken in the 2003 Maratona di San Giuseppe. The seven mile course around the small sister city surprised last year’s competitor Bret Cline who circled the city twice to reach seven miles. He called the trip one of the best he has taken.
