Tickets are on sale for two of the three Triple Crown events the Aiken Trials on March 16 at the Aiken Training Track and the Aiken Hunt Meet on March 23 at Clark Field. Sulky Races tickets go on sale later this week.

Weekend Fires Destroy, Damage Two Aiken County Homes

Beech Island firefighters battled two weekend fires. One at Jim Hunter’s Foreman Road home was fully involved on arrival. The second at Dean Duran’s 661 Beech Island Ave home left 60 to 70 percent of the structure damaged.

Report says crime is rampant in America panel finds

The Eisenhower Foundation report warns fear of crime remains high despite lower actual crime rates. Aiken Spring Cleanup Boosts Triple Crown Preparations

Civic groups and individuals joined in Aiken's Bakin cleanup day to ready roads and parks for visitors. Alan George noted strong participation as groups including Industrial Park firms, Aiken Realtors, Optimist and Kiwanis clubs, St Mary Help of Christians, Palmetto Landscape, and the Aiken Women's Club aided the effort ahead of the Triple Crown events starting March 15.
