The 1983 Triple Crown Edition from the Aiken Standard will be published Thursday and cover harness racing, flat racing, and steeplechase plus other horse activities. Since 1979 the edition has earned South Carolina Press Association awards for excellence.
Aiken Cablevision Inc. upgrades its 70 mile system serving about 7200 homes begun due to aging 14 year old lines. Work starts at the Six Points tower with first gains in Kalmia Hill and Kimberly Drive areas, aiming completion by Sept 1 with some service improvements by May 1.
President Reagan rejects recession era protectionism and urges U.S. firms to export more. He argues free trade relies on reciprocal rules, defends exporting as job and deficit relief, and criticizes auto parts mandates while calling for less bureaucracy to boost American audacity.
The Aiken Jaycees hold a drawing tomorrow for front and second row reserved parking for the Aiken Trials. Registration starts at 8:30 am at the Jaycee Hut on US 1. The event is the second jewel of the Aiken Triple Crown with races on March 12 and a steeplechase on March 26.

Huff proposes expanding PSC by six elected district members. Senate members see strong chance of action, with hearings in Judiciary and potential full Senate consideration.
The Hitchcock Court Apartments will start selling as condominiums on Laurens Street. There are 33 two bedroom and 15 three bedroom units with prices 38500 and 44500 respectively. Renovations total 200000 with new kitchen appliances. Financing ranges 12 to 12.5 percent. Sales agent is Yeorgin Properties through Findley Blackburn Realtors. Model viewing next week and some contracts already signed.
