Aiken County Schools Brace for Budget Crunch and Layoffs

Blaze Destroys Beech Island Store. Nearby Buildings Saved

A Beech Island convenience store Ye Olde Grocery Shoppe in the 1000 block of Sand Bar Ferry Road was gutted by a fire around 4:15 am. Fire crews from Beech Island Richmond County Bath Jackson and Langley fought the blaze and an electrical short in the ceiling is suspected. A Langley fire truck was stolen and later found overturned near Gloverville.
