Beech Island Looks to Incorporation and Rich Historic Roots
Beech Island, once New Windsor, sits along the Savannah River with a ferry to the Sand Bar and a storied past. Swiss and Irish traders such as Tobler and Galphin shaped its development while excavations at Silver Bluff revealed Delftware and Colonoware from colonial times. The town plans incorporation to establish a police department and elected officials to preserve its heritage and identity.
