Educators urged to follow trends in higher education
Dr James Hudgins executive director of the State Board for Technical and Comprehensive Education told Phi Delta Kappa educators to track trends rather than be overtaken by technology and public opinion. He cited accountability legislation and corporate competition, noting Saturn University as an example of nontraditional training extending to non competitors with high ROI. He warned that most students now prefer flexible, bank like college relationships and stressed change must keep up with outside shifts. The meeting also installed a new officers slate for 1999 2000 and honored retirees from Aiken and Edgefield counties.
