Five Idaho children end five day standoff with deputies
Five siblings left their isolated Idaho home Saturday ending a five day standoff with Bonner County sheriff's deputies. They were taken to a Sandpoint hospital in good condition. Their mother JoAnn McGuckin was arrested for child neglect after the family isolation and deteriorating living conditions drew concern from neighbors and authorities. The father, Michael McGuckin, died May 12, with the death attributed to dehydration and malnutrition. The 19 year old sister Erina aided authorities earlier, while the remaining children are Kathryn 16 Mary 13 James 11 Frederick 9 and Jane 8.
