Aiken Man Is Acquitted On Marijuana Charges
Hayward Aaron Jr., 55, of Route 1 Aiken, was found not guilty by a six man six woman jury in Aiken County General Sessions Court after defense contended the marijuana found in a Beech Island house toilet did not belong to him. The case involved three narcotics agents and a search warrant executed November 23. The house owner was away and Aaron stayed there off and on. prosecutors noted prior drug convictions but defense argued lack of proven link to the seized plant material.

Three Heath brothers admitted stealing tools crowbars a butcher knife a foot tub two hams two meat shoulders and two loud speakers from the Dolphus Smiths on December 21 in Aiken County General Sessions Court Judge Rodney Peeples sentenced John Calvin Heath Jr 22 Clayton Heath 20 and David Heath 17 to six five and four years respectively with five years probation and 400 restitution The judge raised sentences for lying in court and noted the polygraph bargain before admission at SLED headquarters and his truthfulness in court.
