Protective orders cut assaults for battered women in Seattle study
A Seattle study of 2,691 abused women finds permanent orders reduced assault risk by about 80 percent in the year after filing. Temporary orders showed no protection and correlated with increased psychological abuse, while long term orders lasted about a year. Victoria Holt led the University of Washington study.
