Alydar Dominates Blue Grass in Derby Tuneup at Keeneland
Alydar romped to a 13 length victory over eight rivals in the Blue Grass Stakes at Keeneland, setting up a Derby showdown with Affirmed. Jockey Jorge Velasquez praised the horse after a slow start, noting he had the best horse and kept him focused on the backstretch and final turn. Trainer John Veitch called the performance as expected ahead of the May 6 Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs.
