Hall Posts Success With New Elbow Rye
When soils vary on a farm, sandy and medium textures are planted to rye while clay soils go to oats barley or rye grass. Rye may be planted up to November 15 for winter cover or late winter and spring grazing. Early planting boosts fall and early winter grazing with higher fertilizer needs and seeding rate. Normal rate is 80 to 90 pounds per acre.
