Familiar face guards the pool as 84-year-old official marks 41st year
Glenn Alday, a longtime Marshall Battle Creek swim official, received the MHSAA Golden Whistle for four decades of service. A former Battle Creek Central runner and MSU graduate, he began as a timer in the 1960s and now oversees starts, dives, and rule enforcement. He credits his longevity to a love of swimmers and parents, plus a 37-year Army career culminating as a colonel.
