Stuart Block and Depot Herald Marshall Heritage Sites
The 1852 Stuart Block remains a Stuart family business with Frank C. Stuart and Elias A. Stuart among the original partners. Frank A. Stuart co founded F A Stuart Co in 1898, manufacturing Dyspepsia Tablets that predated Alka Seltzer. Alfred P. Stuart opened a law office in 1933, later joined by son Mark in 1968, now in his 50th year. The Walters family has owned Marshall’s Interurban Depot since 1936, a station built in 1903 for the Jackson & Battle Creek Traction Co that operated until 1929 when cars rose.
