Sap collection begins at Gordon School
Gordon School kicks off a maple sap project with Kevin Dunn Alyssa Sara Dunn and Melissa Arnold guiding first fifth and third graders in tapping three trees. Forester Jim Coury had identified suitable maples and students will chart daily sap output and climate data while learning science and math. Sap yields about two and a half gallons per day at peak and 40 gallons sap make one gallon syrup. Sap sold for 5 with proceeds funding the Gordon Goes Global Room to Read project aiding a Bangladesh library.
