Michigan Kitchen Distributors of Marshall grew through the downturn by upgrading plants and machinery. Townsend says 2010 sales rose 22 percent over 2009, with production at two facilities totaling 150 to 200 countertops daily and distribution to Lowe's, Home Depot, and states including Wisconsin Texas and Wyoming. The firm operates five Kitchen Shop stores and a Jackson flooring outlet with about 130 employees.
